Pilot Photo Showcase Success
MFAA's second pilot showcase took place at The Art Yard gallery on Tuesday, December 3rd 2019 and featured photography. The session was facilitated by photographer Phil Turner assisted by TAY volunteer Karen Brinton.
Phil regularly exhibits photographs at TAY gallery and in June 2019 helped MFAA with exhibitions at TAY
as part of iSandwell Digital and Cradley Heath Arts Festival, which included work inspirational pieces by international photographer Martin Parr.
During the showcase photographic artists took it in turns to hone their presentation skills while showing their work to fellow photographers in a relaxed and photo friendly atmosphere. The audience consisted of both experienced and novice photographers who shared their photographic knowledge, techniques and editing studio secrets.
A wide variety of work was put on show with each presenter taking the opportunity to give an in depth account outlining from how the photographs were taken to final print.
Following the success of the event Harry Bloomer (MFAA treasurer) said, " We intend to continue holding showcase opportunities which include all art mediums and in the New Year will be asking artists what events they want to facilitate and take part in. This will include event held at other venues. Our purpose will be to provide opportunities for artists to share their techniques and learning."
