Trail Leadership Training
MFAA members have recently undertaken Trail Leadership training organised by Friends of Homer Hill Park group.
Designed to equip local volunteers groups to safely lead participants about all of Cradley's 14 memorials sites, to organise nature walks or to deliver prayer trails, the training was held at St Peter's Church, Cradley on Saturday, 21st March 2015.
MFAA Treasurer, Warren McCabe-Smith was among the volunteers from Cradley Then & Now, Two Gates Ragged School Chapel, Cradley St Peters Church, Cradley British Legion and a local councillor taking part in the training programme, which started with a demonstration trail and covering all aspects of risk assessment, trail planning and evaluation. Participants were given time to develop their trail leadership skills before being awarded Certificates of Attendance that were handed out by Cllr Richard Body, the Chair of Friends of Homer Hill Park. All trainees were issued Trail Leader manuals to help them when planning or organising future visits to memorials, wildlife areas or prayer trails in the Cradley area.
Warren McCabe-Smith said, "Following the training session I will be far more confident to be able to plan and safely deliver various trails for visitors and the training can also be adapted for use at many of the public events that the club is asked to participate in."
